PHP 5.3 has been long standing in our server since day one in our shared and reseller hosting plans.
As of 2014, PHP 5.3 has reached EOL and will not be updated anymore. CPanel has recommended upgrade to PHP 5.4 or 5.5 to apply some of the security fixes. As you may be aware, some of your web application may not be compatible with this new version, especially those running in older or customized web applications. As such, we will go lower than the latest version, i.e PHP 5.4 into all the servers.
Rather than having outdated and possibly vulnerable version in the server, we decided to upgrade the PHP which may benefiting you in long term. We understand that this may cause some inconvenience to you. We will handle on case by case basis, but please, ask your web developer first on the required changes from 5.3 to 5.4 (you are given ample time to consult with your developer)
You may view the details of the change from PHP 5.3 to 5.4 via http://php.net/migration54
If you are using Joomla 1.5, you may refer to some documentation such as :
3. add in error_reporting(0); in the index.php (thanks to Aves!)
The planned migration of PHP will be as follow:
